Have you ever thought that the user port need was for modems and other Hardware so it was already busy and used

I believe it was the connector on the motherboard that was the main 
problem. You could charge a fortune for a drive cable if someone wanted 
a drive, but you wouldn't want to lumber all the tape users with that cost.

They should have just used the user port.
