No, GVP only used custom SIMMs for some of their accelerator cards. I believe
their other products use standard 30-pin SIMMs.

My experience is different (I have a GVP accelerator/SCSI card in my A2000).

I have Kickstart 1.3 in ROM. FFS 40.1 (as supplied on the AmigaOS 3.1 Install
disk) is installed in the RDB, and it boots fine from this. The boot partition
was formatted using the WB 3.1 Format command. I used HDToolBox to write the
disk's RDB.

Maybe the behaviour depends on which version of gvpscsi.device is in ROM?
