I thought of another difference: the keyboard scan code that is put into
location 151 (or 515 for version 1). In older ROMs it is the scan code,
in newer ones the PETSCII code. With, IIRC, yet another strange
difference for the 4.0 non-CRTC version. And the codes for keypad digits
being unnecessarily indistinguishable from main digits.
