Hm, so the vector at $FFFC (normal content $FCE2) is not what you need to 
change?

I'd study some memory map and ROM disassemblies once more, perhaps also look 
for programs that disable regular reset buttons for hints what they look 
for. I know there are cartridges and other that have "unstoppable" reset 
buttons for that particular reason, to bypass software that prevents the 
computer to have a soft reset, warm start or whichever is the correct 
terminology.
