Exactly. I won't escape from VIC, SID and CIAs for now but my next step will be a question how to replace 6510 with 6502 combined with a port chip or something - for the same reason: 6510 is CBM specific. 6502 and port chips are much more easily available and don't need to come from CBM (as we know nothing will ever come from CBM again ;-)

This "too large" will come in form of PLA replacement. I know there are some available already but will have to check.
