Hello, a little ago we had a discussion on the VIC luminances levels and this picture by Markko was referred http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/documents/chipdata/656x-luminances.gif It seems that the R3 displays colours noticeably brighter than R4 for example (I remain at PAL only) although it seems to be better (more uniformly) distributed in the higher range in R3, R4 seems to be doing better in the lower (darker) range. Also seems to me, only by looking at the picture in question, that R5 is a sort of compromise between R3 and R4. Now, has anyone on the list a chance to test this in practice and say (very subjectively of course) which "looks best in real life applications"? In my machine (yep the very same from the beginning) I have R3, which is a replacement for what was originally installed there in 1985 and it seems like this luminance picture might be a good explanation to why I seem to be somewhat disappointed with the colours I receive from the machine: too light and somewhat off-tint/saturation when compared to my very volatile memory content of the original look I had back in the days. Could someone test it and post results like own comments and maybe links to photos (taken with manual White Balance!) of various VIC's outputs? What I would imagine on photos would be: - (in)famous startup screen with blue on blue - colour bars - a well-known demo ? - ? -- SD!
