Yes, I am wondering if the Apple is interchangeable in a 4040 drive? Can you
replace the drive on a 4040 with the drive from the apple. I am not talking
about the controller board. Obviously that is different but the drive itself
looks the same. The connector look the same too.

As far as I can remember the mechanical part is almost the same (not sure it
is exactly the same version) But the controller is extremely different. The
apple controller is reduced to a bare Minimum when the commodore controller
is really advancer.

I just bought an Apple Disk II. When I took it apart to clean it I noticed
it looked quite familiar. Has anyone had any experience with this. Is this
the same drive as in the old PET drives? It looks the same.
