As you can see from the picture, this box used an external power supply. 
There is a DIN connector labeled 'Netzteil'. Since back then there was 
no way to get your hands on one of the square plugs Commodore used for 
the C128 and Amiga 500/600/1200, whoever built this probably used a 
normal DIN plug. He put it where the normal 220V connector would have 
been and that cutout looks factory made (rounded edges).
