Reading your comment and rereading my question I realize it can be
misunderstood. The original I/O accesses of a PC can be slow, as slow as
only 500 KHz. This is one of the reasons I built some memory mapped I/O
in the past: 8 MHz or faster access :)
If these newer cards can handle DMA, IMHO they must have faster I/O
access as well. This faster I/O access, and not the DMA, was in my mind
when I wrote my previous message.

I had problems with CBM-HD for years until someone of CBM-hackers
suggested to build an ATN-trap. Why can't this idea be used here as
well? This would mean that any LPT port can be used IMHO.
