I think the disk ID in the BAM sector (not the "cosmetic" ID that is there
along with the disk name, but the actual format ID of sector 18,0) must
match the other sectors on the disk or it will detect an error when it
tries to find and decode another GCR sector.

A D64 doesn't contain any of this and can't get a disk ID error unless we
force it in the errorblock, so it should not matter in your implementation
either.  You are skipping all that...
