Yes, the original 1581 kernel has some serious bugs that can cause data
loss. I don't remember exactly, but I think it's file fragmentation related,
so you should Validate the disc OFTEN to avoid these problems, especially if
you have a lot of (small) files on the disc or/and you are writing/rewriting
files frequently. Or better up - get JiffyDOS for your 1581. It has all the
nasty bugs sorted out.
