6545 = 6845 ???

Hallo allemaal,

Until yesterday I was sure that a 6545 was the MOS-version of the 6845.
This was confirmed by someone who repaired his 8032 with a 6845.

Yesterday I tried to repair an 8032 with video problems. So I started
with replacing the 6545 with a 6845. Before I had at least some
video, now none at all. So I tried three original Motorola 6845s with
a good 8032: same problem. But using the 46505/68B45 from Hitachi
worked out allright. To make it even more confusing, the three
Motorolas and the Hitachis work allright on a CGA or MGA card.

Has anyone an idea of the confusing behaviour of the original 6845
versus the Hitachi 68B45 ???

Groetjes, Ruud
