I disagree (about the nonsense, not about the discussion). Have a look at
the SCH's of the 30xx. There you'll find a connection between UC5/PB5 and
UC7/CB1. Both pins can be programmed as an output. 
6522-VIA.txt on FUNET says that port B pins are totempole outputs. It
doesn't mention what type CB1 is but I'm quite sure CB1 is a totempole
output as well. Now pull one pin (H) and the other (L) and there you is the
beginning of the end of your 652x.... 

(But I hope I'm wrong)
