There's nothing to fear... If space is such an issue, get something really
small like the M4-32/32 in 48TQFP. Free software from Lattice and
in-circuit programmable, so no big deal.

You need to learn ABEL, though, unless they changed the software to also
support VHDL. Haven't looked at it for quite some time.
