(I haven't been following the whole thread.) Does it have to be the joystick
ports? There was a networking hack done where two C64s are connected using
the IEC serial cable. Different Kernal versions (CBM vs JD) hold different
signals active, but if you set up the ports to "inactive" before connecting
it may be an option. (just a thought).
