Formatting a disk in a 1551

Hello,


I am trying out a 1551 I bought some time ago (but didn't have a 264 series to try it with),
but my suspicion is that it's broken.

First of all, however, can anyone tell me how long is it supposed to format a disk? I gave a
HEADER "TEST",IDD,D0,U8

and it's still formatting, after 15 minutes. That seems a bit too much


any idea, anyone???
