If all else fails, you could get a SuperPLA adapter from Jens Schönfeld.
It emulates several different PLAs, and I think it has some DIP switches
for "personality" selection. Let me know before you place an order;
I could be interested in some of his Ethernet modules, and we could
share the shipping costs.
