Hmm, aren't the voltages and currents defined in IEEE 1284? Contact me
privately if you have trouble locating that standard; I should be able to
access it via http://ieeexplore.ieee.org from the university network.
I'd be interested in the outcome as well. Here's a more on-topic project:
connect the Commodore 64 user port to a IEEE 1284 printer port of a PC
(possibly running GNU/Linux or FreeBSD), and write printer daemon software
that is compatible with existing userport-to-parallel printer drivers on
the 64. Someone is trying to demonstrate something like this next weekend
in Chicago, but I believe he is only aiming for a proof-of-concept, as he
is using cbmlink and some shell script programming.
