Believe it or not, that's the method I used, after trying to desolder the chip
because I thought it could be partially usable. But then I gave up and cut
off the pins and used the described method (suck with left hand, desolder
with right hand, PCB in special vice, vertically) and with that method all the
pins were desoldered perfectly.

I came up with the idea out of sheer frustration. I guess that can be a motivating
factor for creativity.
