How many states does the automaton in VICE have?  Is it also needed for

Hi Ruud,

having been a long time since I analyzed the IEEE488 protocol as used by
CBM,
you may try to look at how VICE emulates it. It uses a state engine, and 
I remember I had to do some ugly hacks to make it work with all CBMs....
