    Perhaps it could be used as an external C128 Function ROM.  I haven't
    tried it; I'm just guessing.
    
    BTW, does the service manual list both versions of the REC chip?  One is
    in a square package (PLCC?), while the other is in ceramic dual-in-line
    package.
