Hello Ruud, I was reading the 1571 internals book last night and the description identifies that the drive has a 6526 CIA for supporting the burst protocol, but that it has both 8bit ports left undefined (not connected). Would the 1571 be a better starting point considering the larger ROM (standard pinouts) available and the fact that having a separate 2x 8bit I/O chip already available it could be both a floppy /HDD in one?
