The CIA chips I've heard (I think it was some discussion on the SCPU's
design) has some different access characteristics, and the host CPU needs to
be compatible. During a LOAD CIA#2 is used. Have you tried something like
this to see if the conflict is to do solely with the CIA? If so, you should
get the garble characters.
