Ofcourse this is possible. CMD has done the same thing. The key issue is
compatibility, however. Most of the software doesn't access a 1541 like
Commodore intended it to be. Fastloaders come to mind. CMD conveniently
solved this problem by making an FD2000 "talk" JiffyDOS, thus removing
the need for a software-based speeder.
