I don't know so much about this subject, but I think that each player uses
its own data format, and therefore each editor has its own player.
Embedding the music into other software is usually straightforward: the
player routine is initialized by JSRing to one address, and the music is
played by JSRing to another address once per screen frame (at the end of
the raster interrupt routine).

You can find lots of tunes at
<URL:http://www.funet.fi/pub/cbm/c64/audio/Vibrants/>.  Their init routine
is at $1000 and play routine at $1003.  There are also some audio editors
in the FUNET archive.

A copy of this message goes to the cbm-hackers list.  Maybe someone there
is more knowledgeable in this stuff.
