When skipping the "erasing" of a track to avoid a rotation but risking 
to leave behind some sync/sector data, a trivial approach would be to 
erase only 10% of the track and then write the blank sectors knowing 
that when you finish you are overwriting the small 10% you actually 
erased. No time wasted (10%) and you are sure you are not leaving 
potentially harmful barbage behind.
