The thing about SEQ and REL files is that they are handled by CBM DOS, aren't they?

What about writing to the filesystem directly? Not as SEQ, PRG or REL files, but as any format (again, examples) like TXT, WAV or whatever the software defines? Sort of what DOS in a x86 would do, I mean.
