The main motivation of this was to accept a pull request. I think that
it would be good to wait for a couple of weeks or months.

I noticed that cbmconvert has been evicted from Debian.

I still do not have any good idea how to create releases, or how to
translate the manual pages on Windows. Even though CMake is very easy to
use, it might be too much hassle for Windows users to install it and a
free-as-in-beer compiler.

Would CPack be useful on the BSDs?

Today I spent some time to learn CTest. There now are some tests for
dealing with empty files. I could not figure out how to make the test
run on Windows; help on that would be welcome. (On Windows, CMake builds
different CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE in separate directory hierarchies.)

Best regards,
