25 years ago, Marko Mäkelä et. al did some measurements as documented in 
this document:

I'm sure P will be able to adjust the POKE coordinates to match his 
requirements. AFAIK the VIC-I chip at most can display 1024 positions, 
but if you enable the 8x16 mode and use custom graphics to get a full 
8x16 blank space, it probably should be no problem to fill every dot 
pixel the chip outputs with foreground spaces.
