I don't afraid of forces breaking the header or PCB. At the moment I am
using 2x 24pin through hole headers soldered primitively (standing on pads)
to the smd pads (lined up using a 48pin socket during soldering). I am
surprised how stable it is. I have removed/inserted it several times
without problems. They did not drag any of the smd pads so far. I am much
more afraid of the pin header's price.
