Hi. Sorry, I was in a hurry to get to bed, and forgot all about this :)

1 = VIC II pin 8 (IRQ) (used for trigger, not shown here)
2 = VIC II pin 14 (color) (to GND via 1k)
3 = VIC II pin 15 (sync/luma) (to 5VCAN via 500 (2 1k in parallel))
4 = VIC II pin 21 (color clock)

Since the c64 had no modulator, and also no keyboard, so I loaded a small 
program off the ultimate-ii cartridge that allows me to place an IRQ on a 
specific location on the screen using sprite interrupts. Then I could use a 
joystick to move the sprites around and change the background colors.
