Following up on my last post: I think my problems were being caused by a diskette that had been previously written on a 40-track drive. After running it over a bulk demagnetizer it's passing performance check every time. Question for those in the know: During format, I'm seeing the drive pause for a short while in (3) location before resuming regular stepping.
