This is indeed possible, though you'd need a custom app running on the 
"host" 64 to watch the bus and implement some of the IEC protocol (in 
reverse, since the e64 would be a device, not a host).  Some of the code 
can be re-used, but not all.

The reverse of all this is something I keep meaning to implement in 
sd2iec.  The SWAP drive functionality of the CMD devices does this, 
assumes "host" functionality, sending some IEC commands onto the bus to 
other devices.
