I'm not aware of any larger projects, but there are quite a few
subscribers to the cc65 mailing list, and presumably we all play
around with it.

It's nowhere near hand-coded assembly, speed- or sizewise, but it's
improving with every release. It's also easy to mix assembly and C to
speed up a routine. Give it a try.
