If you're looking for C64 demos, the best place to look would be CSDb: 
https://csdb.dk/. Look at the top 10 demos and top 10 one-file demos, 
they'll give you some idea of what the scene has been up to.

Don't count on scene demos using HW extensions, there's a few demos 
using REU, but that's probably about it.
