Yeah, back in the days, hole punches were even sold for 3.5" floppies,
to make DD floppies acceptable in a HD drive. Because there the media
difference was actually quite small, and anyway, even cheap genuine
"HD" disks failed often enough, so the difference wasn't that big.

Of course then there were PC programs like FDFORMAT and 2M etc. that
stretched the capacity even further, but I digress, hardly CBM stuff
anymore...
