I lost count how many times I bought "NOS" parts, which were typical "refurbished" stuff: sanded, acid-cleaned, pins straightened and freshly tinned, upper casing surface painted/stamped. The good thing is that they mostly work as expected but it's of course a lottery. Not that they would surely work if they were really NOS..
