Your argument is nonsencical when using a mailing list. You should not 
have freedom to decide where the replies go to, replies should go to the 
mailing list by default as that is who sent you the message.

If you want to send an email to the individual then it is an unusual 
action and should be different to Reply. It should be the account that 
is subscribed to receive emails from the mailing list, so it makes most 
sense to set the From be the Reply-To.
