A replica that doesn't replicate the hardware would be rather odd. If 
you can't get the original chips then a CPLD or FPGA would be more 
interesting.

I'm looking forward to https://ultimate64.com/Ultimate-64 as it should 
be pretty easy to knock up a p500 or cbm2 core to run on it.
