well, that's strange. How can it tell that A0 isn't a clock? Phase
relationship with the other selects?
Also I wonder what the clock is used for internally (other than
selecting the ROM).
I have looked at the only bits of the 6540 datasheet that can be found
on the net, and it doesn't seem
anything special about timings on phi2 input.
I have already a general purpose microcontroller board that I use to
read/test some "strange" memories, so
I can easily modify the current firmware to add just another memory.

that works if the PET is working enough already, but it's surely a great option
