You don't lose the reverse video - it's set in hardware. The screen
output code emits RVSON and RVSOFF characters when MDA "reverse"
attribute is detected.

Blinking could be done on the 6509 side, but you would need additional
256 bytes somewhere (presumably in bank 15) to store additional info
which character is blinking and which not. I don't think it would be
worth the effort - is there actually much software that uses blinking?
