I actually have some USB cables with the logo on the wrong side. No
wounder that they were sold at bargain prices at a rather big home
electronics accessory chain here in Sweden :)

Well, on the male connector it doesen't matter much.

Well, there is a reason all commercial joysticks and mice (for "Atari"
style joystick ports) didn't have any metal shield. (Never mind the PC
rs232 mice, that port can withstand a short circuit at least for a short
while, and anyway you wouldn't change cables so often there).
