In my case it was (and is) not a substitute for the C2N232. I needed several devices on the SERIAL and to test the software there was no easier and faster way than pressing SHIFT+RUN/STOP on the CBM followed by a click on the current machine to build the project and send the file over for execution. So, even if there are other options - I still find this one to be the most efficient when dealing with testing on the real hardware.
