I'm not positive on a feature-by-feature, bug-by-bug comparison, but as used in the PET, I'm pretty sure the 6821 is a drop-in. I've done it, but I can't promise 100.00% functional compatibility (I can't recall if my IEEE-488 tests were completely successful or not, but I think I have bad sockets too). It won't break anything, but it's _possible_ there could be something that isn't *exactly* the same. Since you have the 6821, I'd pop one in and look for your cursor and keyboard to return.
