Yep.  I've robbed drive mechs out of Amiga 1010(?) external drives to use 
in 1581s.  There's two different mechs, but only one of them aligns 
properly in the 1581 chassis.  (I think the eject button is off by a 
little bit - it's been years since I messed with it though.)
