There was a .wav Windows driver for the PC beeper at one time.

Reminds me of the Windows 3.1 PC speaker driver released by MS that 
allowed you to play WAV and MID files through the PC speaker.
Laughably bad as it was, it was something :-)

I think there was one for DOS too.
