As I said, the -03 ROMs and later do not expose this problem, as they
use the 9 byte GAP. As I said also, I have never seen a -01 or -02 ROM
in the wild.

The only problems would be the 1540 and the 2031, which used the 8 byte
gap.


I have not found my analysis of the format routine yet, but your
findings make me believe that my memory did not fool me. I believe I
once analysed the 4040 ROMs and found out about this.

I could tell you that it is already done and combined with the
1540/1541/1571 sources in my cbmrom git. But, as I know, you do not want
to re-use other ones work.

In short, the 2031LP and the 1540 are extremely similar:

1. I still have not found any difference in the schematics besides the
   IEC vs. IEEE interface

2. The ROM is so much identical as it can be, taking into account no. 1.
