The main problem with it was that all addresses were decimal while the monitor on the system itself of course used hex. Also, the one I had was based on KERNAL -04 while -05 was the one you wanted to use. I remember there being a rather simple test to find out if you had a -05 ROM, some BASIC command would crash if you didn't. Anyone remember details?
