Hi,

I have an SFD-1001 which has the same problem. I knew about it because I
have seen an article on the web about an SFD-1001 repair, so I dismounted
mine and have seen the leaked capacitors. I have replaced all of them but
the drive doesn't spin up at all... So far I had no time to troubleshoot it
further but it is in my plans to repair it. I remember it was a bit
difficult to unsolder the head's cable.

Subject: Matsushita disk drives need attention!

You all know the Matsushita JU-570(-2) disk drives that are used in CBM
8250lp, SFD-1001 and 8296-d.
Some of these JU-570 drives went through my hands in the last weeks.
All of them had damaged drive motor PCBs, caused by leaking electrolyte
capacitors.
I assume that all JU-570 drives are affected by this problem.
You may take a look at
http://forum.classic-computing.de/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=7382
where I described the problem. In german, but the pictures should tell
anything.
