Yeah, IEEE is much easier to detect whether a drive exists or not. The 
best solution in terms of speed would be to start the IEEE request and 
then start an IEC request and monitor responses from them both. If an 
IEEE drive responds then abort the IEC transfer and vice versa. It's 
likely to be much more complex to code though.
